LORD IRONRAVEN · Updated PICTURES!
Completed November 9, 2014 · Reaper Miniatures #14005

Practice Study: Focusing on his weapon drapery & practicing painting silk/satin fabric with bright highlights transitioning into deep shadows. Challenging myself to paint TMM (True Metallic Metal) armor. I also tried highlighting hair in more interesting colors & painting battle scars on the left chest & shoulder panels.
Lesson Learned: Metallics are incredibly hard to photograph. I'll get it right one of these days. Also, I learned I needed to add interest and visual balance to the miniature when using bold colors. I struggled to incorporate some of the bold blue from the silk into his armor. (If I were to repaint this miniature, I'd work in more blue glazing in the shadows of the metal). I ended up painting the crosses on his armor 4+ times trying to paint them straight blue, then white with blue gems in the center, then back to light silver-- keeping the gems on his shoulder emblems. In the end, I wished I'd planned my colors better from the start.
